‘Bivalves of the Gulf of Maine’

Thomas has completed the first in a series of posters featuring life in the Gulf of Maine. The poster measures 18" by 24", is printed on semi-gloss paper (thickness 9.3 pt) and is composed of his naturalistic pencil drawings of all 38 bivalve species found along the coasts of the Gulf of Maine, from Cape Cod Bay to the Bay of Fundy (with the exclusion of micro-species). In order to draw these shells Thomas spent countless hours searching the beaches to find the specimens needed for his art work. and in the process has created an extensive scientific collection. The shells are presented approximately in life size (at 18" by 24" poster size) and on a white background that is neutral and minimalist in style. For many species Thomas included views of the inside of the shells to highlight distinguishing features.

The poster is artistically beautiful, and engaging to anybody who loves the ocean, sea shells, and marine animals. For shell collectors, the poster is an excellent reference for identification. The poster is available at museum shops and aquariums in New England, or can be ordered by contacting Thomas directly by email (see contact form field).
