Flow of Life: A sculpture exhibition by Thomas Berger
On display at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye /NH through September 4th

Flow of Life, a collection of stone carvings and bronze cast sculptures by local artist Thomas Berger, is on exhibition at Seacoast Science Center through September 4th. "Flow of Life, the title of my art show, refers to the coming and going of life on many levels: Life coming and going with the tides, the life of an animal from birth to death, the coming and going of species on our planet, including the mass extinctions of creatures like the trilobites, ammonites and dinosaurs that all had at one time dominated the earth. Flow of Life also refers to the extinctions we humans are causing through our presence and activities," said Berger.

Berger juxtaposes the beauty of the ocean life in his work with evidence of its downfall. The Leatherback Sea Turtle, carved from a rare green-colored rock, is beautifully polished, and positioned ready to lay eggs. It stands opposite to the Broken Shell, which is set high up on a pedestal like a jewel that is on display, and you can see the ocean and the clouds through the broken remains of its spiral-shell.

All pieces are for sale and a portion of the proceeds will support SSC.
