Peonies |
unknown variety, see below! |
|
The Queen of the spring garden is not only beautiful, but also very long-lived and easy to grow. The foliage has very few diseases and looks fresh all summer long. And many varieties have a wonderful fragrance. Any drawbacks? Some of the heavy-flowered cultivars might need staking, especially if rain weighs down the blossoms. Single and anemone-flowered varieties are less prone to flop over than double varieties. |

Duchesse de Nemour, a double-flowered, very fragrant variety |
Festiva Maxima, very tall and intensely fragrant |
|
Krinkled White is single-flowered with large blossoms |
Rimpoh, a tree peony |
|
Scarlet O'Hara is a single flowered red variety |
Flamed Heart, another single red |
|
Gay Paree, a beautiful magenta-pink anenome-flowered variety |
This beautiful variety grows in my home garden, and I have not been able to find out what it is. Could it be 'Lorna Doone"?
