Surrealistic Oil Paintings with an Africa Theme

Le Développement en Afrique

oil painting, ca. 4 ft x 2.5 ft, 1988

The scene of the cave painting is the same as the scene of today's life in the center, where for many people not much has changed in centuries. However, an image of future is threatening on the horizon.

Le Mystère

oil, ca 4 ft. x 2.5 ft. 1988

This is a dream-scene of Africa's confusing images, where things are not always what they seem to be, and meanings are not understandable for everybody.

This elephant is hidden in the painting. A second, larger silhouette of an elephant is hidden right below it.

Notre Origin en Afrique

oil, 1988/89 ca. 4 ft. x 2.5 ft.

The painting needs  no explanation except that the burning camel is of course a play on Dali's burning giraffe.
